Law Enforcement Training – What You Need To Know

Being a Training Officer in charge of Law Enforcement Training was a duty I truly enjoyed. There were so many factors that made the experience the best I’d ever had in my nearly fourteen years (and still counting) career. I could write non-stop about all the good things, but to sum up the key factors,…

What is Dry Fire Training: Total Guide to Dry Fire Training at Home

Ever wish you could shoot a gun like a Navy SEAL? I can tell you the “Secret” of how we do it…but then I’d have to kill you. For those of you who have read my book, you already know the secret, for the rest of you here it is…there is no “secret”, it all boils down to dry fire practice; and lots of it. Dry fire is the generic term for practicing weapons manipulation with an unloaded gun. Like many seem to believe, it does not just mean pulling the trigger. I can teach a monkey to pull a trigger (though he might slap the hell out of it). Dry fire training involves everything you do with that weapon, from the basic fundamentals to shooting on the move.

How to Draw a Pistol in 4 Simple Steps

Whether it’s drawing your firearm against an active shooter, someone with an edged weapon, or any other weapon of opportunity, the fundamentals and the end game should always be the same — your eyes, weapon, and sights up on the threat and stopping the threat. Speed vs Accuracy: Mastering Precision and Swift Execution

Yes! As the name implies, here at Center Mass Group we teach our students to quickly find the biggest target available at that moment, set their sights on the center of it and fire for effect. But with that we also need to constantly remind our shooters, “You can’t miss fast enough.” That means for instance that if you decide you’re going to slap the trigger like it owes you money because it’s faster; you’re going to (quickly) throw your rounds all around the guy shooting at you, hoping that he doesn’t have the discipline to slowly press back on his trigger with you in his sights. Let’s see…if I slap the trigger fast 10 times, 1 round is bound to hit him!

Gun Safety for Kids

In the United States on the second Sunday in June we observe Children’s Day, a special day where we focus on improving their health and safety. This special day for kids predates both Mother’s and Father’s Day with celebrations in America dating from the 1860s and earlier. So in honor of this special day, I wanted to talk about something I take very seriously and that is firearm safety.

Five Rules of Gun Safety: Your Ultimate Guide for Firearm Security

One of the sayings you learn as Navy SEAL is, “If you aint cheatin, you ain’t tryin.” It means that most rules tend to be limiting and if you want to win, you need to learn how to “bend the rules.” But the key here is that I said most rules, not all. Some rules are mandatory no matter how high-speed you are and those rules are the ones written in blood.
