What You Need to Know About Meditation and The Bible

As I’m sure you know, I teach the importance of mediation in learning to shoot. I’ve been meditating now for over 35 years and have been a Christian my entire life. I’ve learned that many people believe that meditation somehow goes against the Word of God. They think that because it’s also a practice used by other religions, that it’s a form of demonic idolatry.

Anyone who thinks meditation is somehow “un-Christian” is someone who has never read the Bible, or only reads the parts that fit into their un-Biblical worldview.

Although the meditation I teach has nothing to do with religion, it’s a simple practice of quieting the mind through breathing practice; I wanted to shed some light on the topic for anyone who still harbors negative feelings towards a scientifically-proven technique for improving every aspect of your life.

So, if you’re using The Bible as a reason for not meditating — I’ll use The Bible to show you…God commands you to meditate!

There are several bible verses about meditation but let me highlight the most relevant.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. There are religions out there that also pray; Does this mean that Christians must not? There are religions that meet together for worship; Does this mean that Christians should not? There are groups out there using firearms with the intent to do harm to others; Does this mean that firearms are bad, or just a tool that can be used for good or evil?

If the Bible says somewhere that I shouldn’t meditate, please share it in the comments.
